I have to take a side dish (that is not a dessert) to a potluck tomorrow. I usually try new recipes any chance I can get. Anyone out there have a favorite they want to share with me?
ok how about one of these: I always go for fruit salad bowl. I have a lot of recipes that I haven't even tried and this is one of them. it's called sour cream-basil mashed potatoes. it includes: russet potatoes, salt, butter or margarine, black pepper, milk, half and half or light cream, sour cream and basil. Does that sound like you would like that one or should I keep looking?
I have a couple fruit salad recipes. if you want to know where I got them from let me know. Instant fruit salad: 1 can 30 oz fruit cocktail, drained 1 can 8 oz mandarin oranges, drained 1 can 16 oz pinapple tidbits or chunks undrained 1 package 3 3/4 oz instant lemon pudding powder
Drain fruit cocktail and mandarin oranges. combine drained fruit cocktail and mandarine oranges with pinapple. Sprinkle pudding powder over fruits and stir till well blended. other fruits fruits may also be added if desired. and you can also use a differnt flavor of pudding mix.
Then another recipe i have is: fruit salad Bowl 4 cups sliced peaches, nectarines, plums, and/or apricots 1 to 2 cups assorted berries 1 -2 cups 1 inch honey dew or cantalope chuncks 1-2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice 1-2 tbsp sugar(optional) 3 small cantalopes halved
In a large mixing bowl add peaches, berries, and honey dew or cantalope. toss gently until fruit is mixed. sprinkle with lemaon juice and sugar. toss gently until sugar is disolved. to serve, spoon mixed fruit into cantalope halves.
here is the potatoe recipe: Sour cream-basil Mashed potatoes 1 1/2 lbs russet baking potatoes 1 tsp salt 2 tbs butter or margarine softened 1/4 tsp black pepper 1/3 cup milk, half and half or light cream, warmed 1/3 cup sour cream 1 tbsp finely snipped fresh basil
peel potatoes in a random fashion leaving about half the skin on each potatoe. cut into large chunks and place in a large sauce pan. add cold water to cover along with 1/2 tsp salt. bring to boil, reduce heat cook covered for 15 -20 min or till potatoes are tender. drain add butter, black pepper and remaining salt to potatoes. use a potatoe masher, mash slightly; leaving somelumps,if desired. gently mash in milk, about half at a time, then sour cream. switch to a wooden spoon, so not to over mash the potatoes. add basil. stir until evenly mixed.season with additional salt and black pepper if desired.
Thanks :) I love to browse through the icon communities and pick fun ones out. Honestly, I pay the membership fee just so I can have extras. a little pathetic perhaps...
