To say I enjoyed this book would seem inappropriate. I found it intriguing and gripping but one would have to be in a very dark place to "enjoy" this work of literature. I particularly found the grammatical negligence an interesting literary technique. Why bother with capitalization and punctuation if it is the end of the world? Unfortunately, the library copy I read had been "edited" by a previous patron and had many of "mistakes" circled in pencil.
This book isn't to be read lightly. It's disturbing, sad and harsh. Still, I'm glad I read it. In particular, I felt I could relate to the dad and the love/protectiveness he felt for his son.
