I would tell my friend. Unless the significant other is a closer friend, my obligation lies with my friend, not her/his partner.

why? unfortunately if that person found out they would hold you partially responsible..so I say thats not the most mature decision to make.

I'm basing my answer on what I feel would be morally correct. If the cheater is my closer friend, and she's told me in confidence, and I've told her that I would keep her confidence, it is not my place to tell. If I did tell her partner, I'd first have to tell her that I was telling him. If my close friend is being cheated on and I have no obligation to the cheater, I'd tell because once again, I feel it is the right thing to do.

This is all purely hypothetical. It's not about maturity.

In my answer, I said I'd tell either one - close friend or said friend's partner. But now I have a caveat. I'm with you about the close friend coming to me in confidence if they are doing so asking for prayer and/or guidance. I wouldn't tell right away. If it continued, I probably would do as you said and tell, after advising my friend I was planning to do so. If however, my friend confided for the reason of rejoicing over the affair, etc., I'd have to advise the friend to end it asap and if things continued, I'd tell.
