Merry Christmas! What a day, what a day. It began much to early, with the kids popping in and out of bed beginning around 4 a.m. Benji, who had been sleeping on a mattress in the living room, opted to sleep on a mattress in the boys room so he wouldn't be in the way for the opening of the presents. That decision may have been a mistake on his part because he said the kids kept waking him up in the wee hours of the morning with all their whispering and giggling. He said Petey was just humming and mumbling to himself for about an hour at 3:30. I finally let them get up at 6:15.
They were quite happy with their Christmas haul. Now the question remains: how will we haul all this stuff back to Idaho? Ah well, I guess we'll just have to stay here instead. It would be much too much trouble to take it back. Might as well forget about our life out west and just stay put where we're happy.
Tomorrow we make the trek to Alabama to see my side of the family. I'm so happy! Personally, I feel like I've been counting down the days until the 26th, and not the 25th. Also, I'll be having lunch with an old friend...my oldest friend, come to think of it. She and all the women in her family always meet for lunch the day after Christmas and she's invited me to join them. I haven't seen her for many years, but I am really looking forward to seeing her tomorrow. And, even though I went to the late movie tonight to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still", I shall still get up bright and early so I can make the drive and get there in time :)
