This is the view from my bedroom window



Since we were all "trapped" inside today, I decided to bake bread. I've never successfully made bread from scratch today and I'm so proud to say that I DID IT!! I am so dang proud of myself :) I used Maxine's recipe from my "ross family cookbook". It's a recipe my mom recommends as one that isn't hard and sure enough I was actually able to pull it off.



The kids even love it. We've almost finished the first loaf. Part of the reason that I wanted to make bread is that we're running tight on funds and I wanted to see if I could be a frugal wife and come up with a way to stretch our money a bit further. It worked. Honestly, I've tried to make bread, rolls, etc, many times and they are always horrid. I did it!!

Congrats on the bread! It looks delicious. Maxine would be proud. I love recipes from friends and family - and everytime I use their recipe I remember them and think of them.

I'm so glad I tried it. I couldn't believe I didn't kill the yeast off and I was so excited that it actually worked. They boys had lots of fun knead and punching the bread too.

You've probably made bread successfully many times in your life! You cook way better than I did at your age :)

Oooh thanks, I prefer homemade bread to anything out there. I guess I need a loaf pan. Do you suggest a specific size?

Not really, just an average size would be fine.
