After yesterday's whiny journal entry, I placed a call to our favorite babysitter (next door neighbor Kevin). He wasn't home, but his mom promised to have him call as soon as he got in. Instead of a call, he came over....with tickets to see "Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels" in hand, for us!! The Broadway musical is in town and he had two free tickets which he couldn't use and he wanted to give them to us :) It was for last night, so it was really short notice but we certainly weren't complaining. He watched the kids for us and we rode off into the moonlight for a night full of bright, glittery costumes, fabulous dancing and crass jokes. It was just what I needed :) Chris enjoyed it because I enjoyed it, lol! It was so unexpected and such a perfect time together. I had a wonderful time and I'm so thankful Kevin thought of us in such a generous way. He didn't know I was hitting an emotional crisis of mommy-overload. He had no way of knowing (I think I do a pretty good job of maintaining a shiny, unwrinkled veneer). Yet it was such the answer to a prayer.

This morning the boys and I went around a local neighborhood and hung plastic bags on door knobs for Scouting For Food. It was a bit hectic; they kept competing with each other to be the first one to the door and Josh would protest very loudly when he didn't get to the door first. The idea is to hang the bag without disturbing the person inside. We don't knock. However, it's hard to be inconspicuous when you have a 3 year old yelling his head off. Next weekend when we go back to pick up the food I am SO not taking Josh and Petey. After all, this is officially only Zack's activity. I just took the younger two along because I thought they'd enjoy it....and they did once we had a system in place.

Sounds like you had a really good time! Kevin sounds like a DREAM, and psychic too!

He's so great. I gave him some homemade chocolate chip cookies today as a thank you :)

You know he loved those! What guy doesn't love chocolate chip cookies. Whenever Adam helped Mike and I with anything, or even if we were just hanging out, I always made sure to have chocolate chip cookies available for him.

So happy you got a much needed break with some quality time with your hubby. I bet you both feel a little better.

We do, it was just what we needed. I'll have to make sure we do this more often :)
