I know a few of my entries this week have been a bit...unusual. I feel slightly off-kilter. If any of you read the entry I wrote a few days ago about Chris, I went back and deleted it as I felt it was unfair to him. The truth is that he's quite stressed out about his new job and that stress is just flowing over into other parts of his life. This weekend he was like a completely different person, my old wonderful hubby back again.
So, this afternoon at lunch as I was telling him all about "the church incident" he burst out laughing. I asked what was so funny, and he replied that he couldn't help thinking that I would have sat there with out saying anything if a certain time of the month wasn't fast approaching. He's right, you know. I knew Chris would appreciate the whole story. He's a cynic, that one is.
My neighbor, Lucy, came over after church and talked to me about the whole event. She told me that particular woman (the teacher) is a wonderful woman, but very ridged in her standards. We had a nice chat. I'm so glad to have her as a neighbor. I feel like she was really reaching out to me this afternoon. We talked for quite a while, and I learned a lot about her as well as my neighbors. I was wondering why the neighbor kids spent so much time here and never invited my kids to their house. I learned from Lucy that their dad is abusive. I'm so glad she told me. I will not allow my kids there now, for sure! He even hit Lucy's son once!
Speaking of Lucy's son (his name is Kevin) he is such an awesome kid. Well, I should say awesome guy. He's actually a teenager. He babysits for us sometimes and my kids LOVE him because he's the expert on Pokemon, Nintendo and Neopets (the three loves of their lives). One time I found him sitting in the backyard with the kids looking at their Pokemon cards, telling Zack how rare and valuable one of his was. This evening he played frisbee with us and went for a walk around the neighborhood with our family.
Anyway, please excuse the ramble. I just wanted to let you know that I am normal, I've just been posting wackiness lately.

Date: 2007-09-10 08:08 pm (UTC)You know, it really does seem to me that God has really delivered you to Spokane and to this neighborhood. Think about those other places you were looking at and then think of your new home with your fantastic neighbors. I don't know how to explain how gosh darned cool it is. You guys really struggled for a year in China, and this is God handing you friends, neighbors, church on a silver platter! It's so wonderful - it's as if God knew what you needed most were close neighbors, a tight church family (I can't wait to read about the outburst at church tee hee, am I rubbing off on you? I hope not *LOL*!), and the kids and the teenager who is so awesome with your boys.
The more you tell me about your neighborhood the more I'm certain that Spokane is where you were meant to be right now. *HUGS*
