The short version of a very busy day:
We rode the faculty bus into town around 10 a.m. It was crowded. We met up with Zou at the Confuscian temple to do some Christmas shopping. It was very cold and drizzling, which made for super whiney kids. Who can blame them? What kind of lunatic parents drag their kids around in weather like that? Zou surprised us by announcing that she'd planned a dinner for us with her whole family. I'd expected to be home by dinner time. No. First, we got stuck in Xin Jei Ko during taxi shift change (virtually impossible to get a taxi. Chris paid a guy who was headed home for the night 50 yuan to take us. That's about 4 times as much as he'd make normally. We were so desperate after dragging the kids around in the freezing rain for almost an hour trying to find a taxi. Thankfully Zou didn't see the transaction, she would have been upset :) Then, the dinner ran long. Zou's offered to have her husband drive us home and we couldn't find a tactful way to say "Can we leave now?" We didn't get home until 10:30 p.m. That's such a long day!!!!!
I certainly don't mean to complain about Zou's invitation to dinner. It was so cool to meet her family. I took a lot of pictures today. Tomorrow we plan on doing NOTHING all day long, so I'll make sure to spend an absurd amount of time updating my lj. Also, I ate bullfrog for the first time tonight. It wasn't too bad. Chris didn't like it, which was a first. Usually I'm the one whose yucked out by trying something new and he's always calling me a wimp. Of course, he wouldn't tell me that I was eating bullfrog until after I tasted it :)
