Oct. 23rd, 2007 01:13 pmIn Spokane there is an awesome radio station, The River, that offers an open DJ spot once a week. Open Waters lets every day folks come in and play their favorite songs on the radio. Isn't that awesome? I'd love to do it, if only I didn't have such a baby voice :) Most of you don't realize this because you've never spoken to me in "real life", but I have a very soft, childish sounding voice. On the phone, it is pretty common for people to ask me if they can speak to my dad (even people I know make this mistake, which means they must mistake me for an 8 year old boy!) My point being that I don't exactly have a radio friendly voice.
However, because of The River, I have been (re)discovering and downloading a lot of new music lately. Here are some of my recent favorites:
The Best of Elvis Costello
Decemberists- The Crane Wife
Nouvelle Vague -Bande A Part
Plain White T's - Hey There Delialah (what? So I'm a follower sometimes. It's a popular song for a reason!!)
Village People- YMCA (Petey recently learned this dance at school and I want to see him do it)
Any Cranberries fans out there? Dolores O'Roirden recently put out her long awaited (and probably mostly forgotten about) solo album. I like most of the songs. If you liked her style when she was in the Cranberries, you'll still like her. My favorite song is Human Spirit, because of the funky Irish flute :)
