lizzybennet: (death cab)
Church today went really well. They finally have the kid's sunday school up and running, so I was able to sit through the adult meetings without wrestling with kids. Last week I forgot to mention something that happened at church. Connor fell asleep on my lap and pee'd all over me. We had to take a taxi home, change and come back. Today I made him wear a diaper to church so we wouldn't have a repeat of that particular problem. We had a potluck today and I made chicken salad sandwiches (we could only make sandwiches, per rules of the hotel where we meet.) It's my mom's recipe: chicken, grapes, nuts and mayo. I use pecans at home, but since I can't find them here I used cashews instead. The sandwiches were a smashing success, if I do say so myself :) I overheard a couple of the BYU guys ranting and raving about them. When it came out that I had made them, one of the guys offered to babysit in exchange for more chicken salad, lol. I like that fact that I'm considered a good cook among Americans here, just because they are so desperate for something familiar.

We've really been using iTunes a lot lately. We've downloaded the whole first season of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends ([livejournal.com profile] beepboop, when you put that clip in your lj last week, we played it over and over again!) The kids and I have been watching the episodes together. It's fun that we can just hang out together so often. I'm starting to figure out why my life felt so hectic last week and I *think* I can fix it this coming week. We shall see...

Connor has a croupy sounding cough. I'm debating as to whether I should take him to the dr. tomorrow or not. He doesn't have a fever, but he clearly feels pretty rotten. This move has been pretty tough on him. He still asks me if we can go home. When I explain that this is our new home he says "Oh, man!" or the most heart-rending of all "Why, mom?" Oh! Speaking of Connor, there was a new kid a church today that is his age. A BYU professor arrived with his wife and two kids. He is a Chinese scholar of Tang Dynasty literature. His wife is much younger than him. She's Taiwanese and her name is Tina :) They have two boys, one Connor's age and one 16 months old. We'll have to have them over for dinner so he and Chris can talk shop (although Chris is not *that* into Tang literature, he has taken 2 or 3 classes on it.)
