Last nights sunset was breath-taking. I was lucky that [livejournal.com profile] sunrise0124 suggested I go take a look at it. I ended up loading Connor into the stroller and walking for a half hour while I took in the beautiful sight. It was a pretty windy day yesterday, which always makes for a spectacular sunset. I will certainly miss the sunsets when we move. I wonder if sunsets in China are as beautiful. I suppose they must be.

Here is another shot )

Zack stayed home from school today with an upset tummy. I wanted to send him anyway, because I have to write that darn paper, but I remember one time when my mom sent me with an upset tummy and I threw up on the bus. I didn't want to do that to him. I made a good call. He's been in the bathroom a lot.

Book club tonight. Yay!

You scored 71 erudition!
Congratulations! You're well above average when it comes to your knowledge of English grammar, history, and literature. You may have missed a few questions, but if you keep your studies up and stay away from genre fiction, we'll have you ready for Stanford in no time! Who knows, we just might be reading your columns in Talk of the Town a few years from now.

My motherly instinct did not steer me wrong this time. If I had sent Zack to school, he would have had his own traumatic childhood story to relate. He is sick, sick, sick. Sitting on the toilet, with his head in the trashcan...does it get anymore sick than that. He said "Mom, I think this is the end for me." I replied "What do you mean?"I'm hoping he means the end of his sickness. But, no. In true Dramatic Zack fashion, he means the end of his life. My poor boy. I had one of those awful "DON"T GIGGLE" mom moments. I forced myself to keep a straight face, and assured him that as horrible as barfing is, it is not the end for him. He will yet live to see tomorrow.

I will not be attending book club tonight :( I haven't had time to write my paper, and even if I had I wouldn't feel right leaving Zack.

Shucks. I'll just have to comfort myself with "Earl" and "The Office". Hmm. From discussing victorian gothic novels to watching mindless tv. bummer.

I went to book club after all. It was grrrreat. I loved it. I now have 1.5 hours to finish and turn in my paper. No problemo.

We're reading "The Good Earth" for next month. I read it with in the past two years, so I don't think I'll stress about reading it again. I recently discovered that it is the first in a trilogy, so I may try and find the second book to read. I volunteered to bring a bunch of Chinese memorabilia to the meeting, to set the mood for "The Good Earth".

Zack is feeling much better. Now let's pray that none of the other kids get it.
