I've been reading over some websites for "traveling with children" tips. I want to make this airplane trip as un-stressful as possible. To be honest, I'm feeling pretty nervous about traveling with all three boys by myself. Here are some tips I came across that I hadn't thought of already:
Lollipops to help relieve the change in cabin pressure. Other suggestions are to make wide mouthed silly faces at each other, or place hot towels over the ears (the steam helps open the middle ear up.)
Carry a recent color photo of the kids with me in case (heaven forbid!) one of them gets separated from us.
Toys with suction cups to put on the tray. For some reason, I had forgotten that I would also need entertainment for Connor. I have gameboys and movies for the older two boys, but I had overlooked the baby. That would have been a disaster!
I had already planned on most of the other suggestions: lots of diapers, wipes, changes of clothes for me and them, snacks, drinks. I'm also going to get some Crayola Wonder Color markers for the trip. They love those. Another suggestion I came across was to give them a wrapped surprise during the trip, but I don't think I agree with that idea. Wrapping paper everywhere? I don't think so.

Date: 2005-06-01 01:16 am (UTC)Something else you can do is call your airline ahead of time and tell them that you are travelling alone with three children, all under the age of six and will need some assistance getting your luggage and boarding/de-boarding the plane.
The airlines help the elderly, children, and people who have disabilities, I am almost positive that they would help you if you let them know what your situation is. This may also be helpful if you need to pee on the plane. Just call one of the flight attendants and let them know you gotta pee - take Connor with you to the potty and leave the older boys with the flight attendant.
But always ask for help if you need it - they can only help you if they know what your needs are.
