I had so much fun last night with the lady friends. I was a little late getting to The Melting Pot. It took Chris much longer than he anticipated to pick his dad up from the airport. We forgot to factor in the rush hour traffic when coordinating our schedules for the night. It was no big deal, though.
The four of us ordered a "meal for two" and split it between us. We had the spinach artichoke cheese and mexican-type cheese. They set the fondue pots on your table on a magnetic burner (that's some cool technology.) so there is no danger of burning yourself on the burner. The cheese dip comes with lots of goodies, such as fresh veggies, corn chips, bread, or green apples. The apples dipped in the mexican cheese was by far my favorite. Next came the salads and then the main course. Again, we opted for two types of cooking broth (I don't know how else to explain it.) It was weird having them bring out a platter of raw meat to our table. The seasonings were delicious and it only took about 2 minutes to cook one piece of meat (we had chicken, steak, shrimp, pork, portebello mushrooms and ravioli.) Of course, the highlight of the evening was the desert. We opted for the S'more chocolate, which he set aflame before we dug in. That was served with strawberries, pineapple, bananas, marshmallows, cheesecake, brownies and graham crackers. Oh, it was heavenly.
Now, before anyone thinks that I ruined my diet, let me declare that I practically starved myself all day yesterday so that I could eat that dinner guilt-free. And believe me, it worked. I savored every single bit without feeling a twinge of guilt.
Next, I went to pick up Laura (my pregnant friend who has been so sick.) She's feeling much better and this was her first "public" appearance since before Christmas. We were suppose to watch a movie together, but we ended up just sitting and chatting for a few hours. When I got home, Chris asked me what we talked about for all that time. He thought for sure we had been discussing our love lives. No, I assured him. We talked about labor and delivery, nursing, potty-training, family beds, etc. It occurred to me that this was pretty ironic. Here we are, a bunch of moms having a night away from the kids and all we talked about was our kids :)
I got home around midnight, by far the latest I've stayed out in at least 6 years. It was so, so fun.
