I took Zack and Pete swimming today. I thought it would be a good time to read while the boys played around in the pool. One moment I was talking to Zack and the next moment I realize that Pete is in the middle of the deep end, barely keeping his head above water. I jumped in, shoes and all, and pulled him up. It was so scary! All I could do was hug him. He was actually doing an excellent job of treading water, but he couldn't keep his head above the surface. He just kept bobbing up and down. That Rascal!! He was trying to get the diving toys that had somehow gotten in the deep end. We always joke about how he is fearless, but I am hoping that maybe this put a little fear into him so he won't try anything like that again. I made him stay in the shallow end for the rest of the time. That was after we went home so I could change out of my dripping wet clothes.

Zack said "Wow, Mom, that was a really big splash!" Even Pete thought it was funny (rascal!). Yeah, its real funny to give your mom heart failure...grumble, grumble....Seriously, though, I am so thankful that he is ok and that he can swim pretty well for a four year old. His guardian angel was watching over him today, no doubt.

Oh my gosh! WOW! You are a super-mom! I have this image of you, all Hollywood stunt woman like, looking up from Pride and Prejudice. You see your precious, percosious middle child bobbing up and down in the deep end. You don't panic. You don't yell. You just spring from your seat like Mrs. Incredible and rescue your child.

My mom always said that you looked like a water goddess. Remember that one summer we spent nearly every day at the Officer's Club pool? That was probably the best summer ever - the chlorine in the pool even cleared up my achne!

gee, I wish I fit that image...try this one out. I see my child bobbing up and down, I jump into the pool, flailing as I go. I was already standing up because I had been talking to Zack, so all I had to do was leap. Thinking back now, I wish I'd had the presence of mind to use the flotation device they have at the pool just for the purpose of saving lives.

This morning Pete told me he doesn't want to go back to the pool. I told him we'd take swimming lessons so he can learn how to swim in the deep end. He was smiled with relief and said "Oh, ok. That's good. I won't be scared then."

Good for him! It's awesome that he won't let this incident scare him from something so awesome as swimming.

And for such a little kid, his reasoning capabilites are mind boggling. He really is such a neat guy. I can't wait to meet him.
