lizzybennetChris and I saw The Half Blood Prince tonight. I loved it.
We went to the Zoo today and it was great fun. It's a huge zoo, very well done and, of course, the best part is that it is free! Hands down, the favorite exhibit of the day was the invertebrate room. The boys were all quite impressed with the leaf cutter ants and their nest, which was viewable through a series of tubes and plexiglass tanks.
After the zoo, we went to the Lincoln memorial (something the kids are familiar with from watching Night at the Museum 2). That was really neat, but I was disappointed to see how dusty Lincoln was. He needs a good pressure washing. Also, when I see these memorials, I wonder how the men themselves would feel about seeing themselves portrayed in such a way. For example, I saw a statue of Washington where he is shirtless and quite buff. Would he approve?
I enjoyed having the day off with the boys and I wish I could do it for the rest of the week. Alas, I have to go back to work. I think it will be hard for me to focus knowing they are here and I can't be with them.
