Chris was rear-ended yesterday while sitting at a red light in Brigham City, Utah. No one was hurt, but the car is pretty bashed up. The woman who hit him is elderly and she told Chris she was thinking about her broken tooth at the time. She saw the cars in the next lane over going (which turned out to be the turning lane) so she "stepped on the gas" and rammed right into the back of the van. She pushed him into the intersection about 10 feet. I'm so thankful there was no oncoming traffic!

Chris spent all morning finishing up the move-out process, then drove five hours to Utah. Fortunately he'd planned on spending the night there, so he already had hotel reservations and didn't have to travel any further. The back hatch on the van won't close all the way and the police had to tie it down. Once he got to the hotel, Chris emptied a lot of the luggage and then kicked the gate shut very hard and got it to latch. He said this still doesn't fit snuggly, and the van detects the door as open which means it is constantly dinging the "door open" chime and the dome light won't go off. The bumper is also hanging down quite low. We do have comprehensive insurance and the woman has insurance as well, but I have no idea how this will work on a road trip. Can he drive with it in that shape? Will the insurance fix it right away and pay for him to stay in a hotel for a few days until it's better? So many questions.

Fortunatley we do know several people in that corner of the world, so if need be they could find a free place to stay. There just seems to be so many hiccups when it comes to this trip. I just found out on Saturday that the arrangements I'd made for Max fell through and now I have no idea where to board him when they get here. Of course, I don't know when they'll get here and that makes it harder to plan for Max, as well as when to plan for my own days off. Maybe I should tell him just to go straight to Florida. Maybe it's selfish of me to ask them to come here. I just miss them so much. I hate being away from them in times of crisis.

I'll be praying for you on this. There are a lot of decisions and things to be done - you definitely need some divine intervention! *hugs*

I just got back from Granny's and read about Chris. When I think about how bad it could have been ,being pushed out into the intersection it gives me the willies. I just had a bad feeling about his trip all weekend and couldn't shake it ! Tell Chris to call me when he gets a chance. It could take a week or more to get the car fixed. The rear axle could be warped or any number of other things could be damaged. He need to have it completely checked before going back on the road. Griswold family vacation ! Guess that woke the boys up with a rude awakening !

Granny passed out Thursday and had to be taken in an ambulance to the emergency room. She was dehydrated and hasn't been eating. An hour after she got home she didn't even remember going to the emergency room ! Her long term memory is still good, however. Someone just has to be with her all the time now. Bill
