Time for a picture heavy post. Let's start with our kitty! We'll continue on with some pics from my trip to Memphis as well as our fun family time on Christmas Eve.

Our Christmas tree. I've really enjoyed having such a big, beautiful live tree. I will admit, I don't look forward to taking it down...it is already raining needles...

We went to the Spokane Riverfront park on Christmas Eve to ride the antique carousel. It was great fun, if I do say so myself. They even have rings for riders to reach out and try to catch. My dad told me about reaching for the ring when he was a little boy, but I was never quite able to visualize how it worked. Now I know! I wasn't able to reach, because I wasn't sitting on the outside. Still, it was great fun.

Also, the carousel went quite fast, as far as carousels go. It was a bit dizzying. Naturally the kids wanted to ride it again and again, but we said once was enough. We didn't want any puking kids on our hands.

After the carousel, we went outside to look at the ducks (pigeons, geese and seagulls). Here's Zack.

We've had a white Christmas and it is lovely. We woke up this morning to a thick blanket of snow and it is still coming down. The other day, Petey was telling me just how much he loves living in a snowy place. He asked if we could come back next winter :)

Why is this photo here, you may wonder? Well, I just want to show what a mess my new hand mixer makes. I lost the beater to the one I've had for years and years, so I went out and picked up a new mixer. It seems I purchased one with super powers. The lowest speed is way too high and I cannot avoid spinning cookie dough all over the place (myself included). I'm at a loss as what to do about this problem. Buy a new mixer, buy a mixing bowl made to prevent spatter? btw, this is gingerbread cookie dough.

While in Memphis we went to see Beale street. It was cold and rainy, so tourist were few and far between.

Photobucket
It did remind me of Bourbon street a bit, but much cleaner and less intrusive.

Melissa and her beautiful girls. We made a gingerbread house one night. Fun stuff.

If you've made it this far, I salute you. Thanks for looking and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

The cat doesn't mind what you call it. Each knows their name and will never tell. I enjoyed seeing a live performance of CATS with Caryl and Dawn in Minneapolis four years ago at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. The generations of Gran's cats goes back to the first I remember , Abraham. She gave them biblical names like bathsheba, meeshack, neeshack and abindigo, but present generations have evolved to more mundane handles like 'bugsy'. Bill
