Has it seemed like I've dropped off the face of the earth? I enjoyed my time at my parents' house so much that I just didn't bother to journal while I was there. I realize now that I should have, because we did so many great things together. I'll back date some entries later. That seems like something productive to do while we're flying back across the Pacific to Nanjing.
The best thing that has come of this trip is that I'm ready to go back. As you may recall, I was quite unhappy with China before we came home. I was just fed up with everything. E V E R Y T H I N G. However, being home has given me the rest that I so needed. Mentally, I was exhausted. I was overwhelmed.
I'm ready to go back now and give it another try. Hopefully, I know what to expect this time and I'm more prepared to face it. Also, I'm taking Chinese 101 and 102 this semester which hopefully will help me feel less overwhelmed by the language barrier. I also feel optimistic about restarting home school as well. I have several new workbooks (science!) to take back with me. I've recaptured the feeling of excitement that I initially had about doing home school.
I'm doing something else fun with home school: scrapbooks. I don't know why I didn't think of this before! I'm having both boys make small scrapbooks as part of our home school curriculum. It will be a great way to have Zack practice writing and spelling, plus create a precious keepsake :)
We left my parents' home today and headed back down to Florida to say our farewells to Chris' parents. I was crying as I hugged my mom good-bye, and it wasn't the pretty kind of crying. *sigh* I'll really miss them.

Date: 2007-01-09 05:12 pm (UTC)I know how you feel about your parents - I usually sob like a crazy woman, all tears and runny nose, when they leave. This time I didn't cry, but I did feel like taking to my bed. I think that's why I've been stuffing my face and wanting nothing but naps. I get depressed. When they are here we're running around, laughing, eating out, having a great time. When they're gone I don't know when I'll get to see them next time. It's really sad.
*hugs* I hope you start to feel better soon. It's always hard to say good bye, and China is so far away. But you'll be back soon! Hopefully you guys will be able to move closer and get to see your family much much more.
*HUGS*
