My sweet sister

On July 1, my beautiful sister Wendy gave birth to Macy Rae. Macy has a head full of hair and is perfect (according to my mom). My sister was induced because she had some of the symptoms of preclampsia. She was very swollen, her BP was up and she had a little protein in her urine. The doctor was a little baffled though, because she didn't have all the symptoms and the ones she had were inconsistent. Anyway, she delivered her lovely baby with no complications. Personally, I was nervous for her. They induced her the same way my Dr. tried to induce me with Zack. I ended up with an emergency c-section and had a horrible experience. I'm so thankful that her delivery went so much better.
I called my mom tonight to check up on Wendy (Mom went to help her out). Wendy has been admitted to ICU with congestive heart failure!!! I was so shocked when she told me. Apparently they sent her home, but her swelling never went down. It got worse. She couldn't catch her breath and felt like her heart was racing. When she went back to the ER, they told her that her lungs were filled with fluid. When her OB came to see her in the ER he apologized to her. He said he was so sorry that they didn't catch on to it earlier, but it was such an uncommon complication. Then, he asked her if she'd like him to say a prayer. Isn't that awesome?? She's now under the care of a cardiologist and they've told her that she'll be in the hospital for at least 5 days. I know how hard that must be for her, to be away from her brand new baby girl. I'm thankful that my mom is there to help out. Please keep her in your prayers. She's expected to make a full recovery.

Date: 2005-07-06 09:54 am (UTC)I was just (coincidentally) reading about several conditions, including congestive heart failure, and how treatment has become so much better and more promising in recent times. I know Wendy is going to be fine. <3
