Cici is coming this morning to "negotiate her salary" for the past three days. Jeff from Map Magazine took care of all the dirty work. He called her and explained the situation. What a relief.

Zack lost a tooth last night! One of his front teeth has been hanging on for weeks. The adult tooth has already surfaced, but that baby tooth just wouldn't let go. It was flapping around in there, just tempting a passer-by to yank it out. Zack wouldn't let anyone try and pull it. Finally, it came out last night when he was eating peanut butter toast. Do you remember how cool it is to loose your front teeth? Suddenly you have a huge gap in your mouth, and you can hardly keep your tongue from exploring it several times an hour. And, of course, you can put various random objects in there and pretend they are teeth (my favorite was a peice of corn.) We had to figure up what the exchange rate was for the tooth fairy. At home he gets $2, which here would be about 16 rmb. We gave him 10 rmb because we didn't have any 5's. He woke up very, very early and was thrilled to see that 10 under his pillow :) It's nice to feel so generous, lol. Now he's asleep again! Crazy kid. .

*Laughs* I wish this was my puppy. I found the picture on a website dedicated to pictures of cute things, and it seemed like it would be good motivation. I'm working on losing 70 pounds in the next year, and once I lose about 45 I get a puppy. My sister's dog looked a lot like that when he was tiny - gotta love huskies and malamutes!

You lose weight and get a dog? Now that is a really cool reward!

Well, it falls somewhere between "convenient excuse" and "convenient delay." I would probably just break down and get one if I didn't have it set as a reward. I want one so badly, but right now there are about seven boards missing from our privacy fence and my husband says we wouldn't be able to afford the heartworm treatment just now. I get a raise in about a month, so by the time I earn the dog we should be able to afford it.

When I reach my final goal weight (145 pounds) my dad's supposed to buy me a lap harp. We've had a deal since I was in highschool - but originally, he was supposed to get me a horse! In college I changed it to a harp, realizing that the upkeep on a horse would be way too expensive.

Aww. Did your parents just not follow through?

Any time I've managed to lose a big chunk of weight my dad's gotten really nervous. I have a feeling that I won't get exactly the one I want, but I'm sure they'll do well by me.

Thing is, if my dad had put $100 in a savings account when he made the promise, it probably would have accrued enough interest by this point to get a really good one. ~_~; It's probably been close to ten years since he made that promise.
