My mom got her "important box" out and gave me several things she had saved for me as I was growing up: report cards, my baby footprints, and a copy of my fingerprints. I found it fascinating what some of my past teachers had written about me. Here are a few of the comments.

Kindergarten, 1st quarter: "Tina is a good student. She works well independently but needs occasional reminders about talking out of turn" I guess some things never change...I'm still a blabber mouth

Kindergarten, 2nd quarter: "Tina's work is progressing very nicely this marking period. The talking problem has improved but since her friend Danielle has left, she had some difficulty making new friends." I had forgotten all about Danielle. She lived on my street and we played together all day, every day. I've always only had one or two close friends. I was never the type to have a big group of friends. I wonder where Danielle is now.

Fourth grade, 3rd quarter: "Tina is so creative in her work. She also is so kind and sharing with all of the students. If I had a child, I would hope to have her have the qualities Tina has." Wow! I was so surprised when I read this comment. Had no idea she felt that way about me. Honestly, this teacher is not one that stands out as one of my most memorable. I do remember her, but I can't remember anything extra special. Isn't that sad? Such is the way of memories.

Fourth grade, 4th quarter: "Tina, always continue your love of books and continue to share your knowledge with others. You have been a delight to have in my class" This was the year I discovered the joy of reading. "Ramona the Pest" was the first chapter book I ever read on my own. Oh, how I loved it.

I remember! I remember when they came out and someone was like "OH MY GOSH! I love the Goo Goo Dolls" and I said to them, all snooty, "Puh-leese. I liked them before they were big. You don't know music loyalty."

And REM! And the Ocean Blue - remember them? I still have the tape I made off of your Ocean Blue tape. No lie! Okay, I am so going to pull out all my tapes this weekend and listen to them and clean house.
