Feb. 7th, 2007 10:42 pmThe pictures turned out well. It seems that the loss of our digital camera has been a blessing in disguise. I'm very happy with how the pictures turned out. I've decided to "ration" my pictures, so I'll only post a few at a time in attempt to make them last longer :) This pic is from the North Temple in Suzhou.
I don't have much to report about today. I had a test in Chinese class today on how to introduce our family members. Home school went well today, although it is still like pulling teeth to get the kids to do school work. I have to keep reminding myself this is school, it's not suppose to be super fun, right? And lastly, and probably most exciting, we picked up the front tire to our bike. Yes, we now have a bike!
We called Driver Fang this evening to take us into town to pic up the bike tire and photos. She said she was sick and would be to our home in about a half hour. When she arrived, it quickly became clear that she had been drinking. She took on a speed bump at full speed. I'm sure she didn't even notice it was there. When she turned around to speak to me and the boys, I could smell the alcohol on her breath. What an awkward position for us to be in! We call her all the time to drive us. She drives us to church on a regular basis. Now what do we do? We certainly cannot allow our kids to be put into that position again, it's just not safe. Usually, when Driver Fang takes us home, she drives the wrong way on the round about, drives into the bike lane going the wrong way and takes us back to the campus front gate that way. Her reasoning for this is that otherwise she'd have to go past the campus and do a u-turn to get to the front gate. She's not the only driver who does this, it's actually quite common for drivers in town to do this. However, tonight, when she did the wrong way driving, it was super scary. We almost wrecked. Twice.
