(no subject)

Something odd is going on in our apartment. Our bedroom smells distinctly of cat pee. We don't have a cat. The thing that makes me feel a little freaked out is that our upstairs neighbor is missing two of her cats. She lets them out on her back patio and sometimes they fall (or jump?) down onto our patio. The cats usually hang out on our back porch until the neighbors come and get them (sometimes they discover it themselves and other times we go tell them.) Last week one of the cats was on our porch and the neighbors were never able to catch it. It returned a couple times, but at every attempt to catch it the cat ran away. The second cat hasn't been seen in quite a while. What if, by some weird fluke, one of the cats made it into our house and pee'd in our bedroom? If there was a cat living secretly in my house, I would know it--wouldn't I? I'm sure I would. I think the smell is caused by the fact that our A/C leaked onto the carpet last week. The office is going to have the hall and bedroom carpets cleaned and deodorized. I hope that makes a big difference because it is awfully stinky.

We are also having a stinging insect infestation. The office says it is because we live right next to the fountain/fish pond combined with the fact that it has been so dang dry lately. The bugs are just looking for a drink of H2O. They built a couple nests on our back porch; yesterday I saw a wasp crawl under the front door frame. I had instant images of a huge wasp city inside the walls of our home. The insect guy sprayed on Monday and he's going to spray again tomorrow. I'm thankful that no one in our family has been stung yet, but everytime we have to go outside the kids are way freaked out. Everyone predicts that if it rains the wasps and bees will go away. I hope so.
