Zack's reading
Mar. 20th, 2005 11:22 amZack is doing such an awesome job learning to read. He had a really tough time in the beginning. We were both getting frustrated. I got a wonderful self help book on teaching your child to read. Now, he is really getting the hang of it. I am so proud of him. He has come really far. Just now we were reveiwing his sight words. This is a list of about 20 words that he gets tested on at school every semester. At the beginning of the year he could only read 2 words ("A" and "I"). The second semester he could read four(a, I, red & one). Today he knew them all, except "eight" and "purple" (and who can blame him? Those words defy every reading law known!)But also, he's developed confidence in his ability. In the beginning he was so frustrated. He would end up crying with each attempt. Today, even though he couldn't sound out "purple", he gave it his best shot and came up with "podulegance."
Bill leaves today. Next week I am going to clear out all the toys from the boys room (every last one!) and we are going to greatly simply our toy supply. It is ridiculous how many toys they have.
Well, I hear Pete saying he is throwing jelly beans at Zack. Guess I better see what they are up to...
