Took the kids to see Ice Age 2 today. It was ok, not as good as the first one. We just got back from the pool and now the kids are playing in their room with a friend. A girl friend. I can remember when they couldn't stand girls and now they are actually friends with one! Will wonders never cease?!
I went hiking this morning on my own. I hiked for over an hour. It was hard, and I got pretty winded as I climbed the trail. It was a mountain path, to some pools. I've always heard that the pools are amazing but it is too far for a family outing. The kids are too little to hike that trail. As it turns out, I didn't make it all the way to the pools myself. After I had hiked for a half hour (most of that climbing up hill) I thought I needed to turn around. I hadn't brought any water and I didn't want to get stranded or in some sort of medical emergency. I was having a little difficulty breathing, not to where I was worried but I felt like it was a warning that I was pushing myself to the edge. It felt good to challenge myself but I didn't want to over-do it. I plan to keep going back until I can make it to the pools. If I take water next time, maybe I'll be able to go all the way.
According to calorie-count.com, I burned 518 calories from that little outing. Sweet!

I bet (if your purse or diaper bag is big enough) you could sneak in some low fat popcorn and no one would be able to tell the difference. You would have to pop it at home first though so it would have to be enough room for a popped bag.
