I just watched an Hercule Peroit mystery that Chris picked up at the library. I don't like to watch mysteries like he does (he must get that from his mom) but this time I ended up watching it while Chris snored away on the couch. He's wiped out after taking the boys camping last night. They had fun, but didn't sleep very well. All three of them have been snoozing on and off throughout the day. I had been anticipating a quiet, restful evening last night while they were gone. I planned on renting a chick flick and picking up some chocolate. It turned out that we were too broke for me to rent a movie or buy junk food. I ended up flipping back and forth between "Shallow Hal" and the finale of "America's Next Top Model" while I messed around on the computer. I also finished a book "The Lost Mother" (a sad, sad book). It turned out to be a somewhat boring evening. They were home this morning before 7 a.m., dirty from head to toe.

I've been messing around with trying out new formats. I even joined a few free format communities, but I haven't found that *perfect* one yet.

Tell me about your red/blue icon...

I am a closet "top model" watcher. I watched it on and off when no one was around. Everytime someone came into the room, I'd change the channel. When I told Chris I had watched the finale he said "Why? you don't watch that show." You see how well I kept it hidden? Craziness, I know...

The red/blue icon is from The Matrix.

It represents choice.

In the movie Neo (Keanu's character)is invited to see what the real world looks like - the blue pill represents The Matrix (the world he "lives", it's a computer generated world, it's not real). The red pill represents the world as it really is - a completely destroyed, post-apocalyptic world.

I like it as an icon, not just because of the movie, but because of the choices it represents in our day to day lives.

That's why I like the Matrix so much. It's a very philosophical movie, with lots of connections to Christianity.

Have you seen it?

Mike gives me a hard time about my Reality TV addiction. I love top model because I like to watch their transformations. My favorite part is the end of each show when they review the model's photographs. I would love to shoot fashion photography.

*lol* Not at all ashamed of you (although as a Keanue Reeves fan you should give yourself 20 lashes for not seeing it more than once).

That movie is definately one you have to see more than once to fully understand it. Mike even bought me a book called The Philosophy of The Matrix. It's good.

Man...what a great movie. An LJ friend [livejournal.com profile] moviepsycho is also in taekwondo and her demo team partner and she are going to try to reenact the dojo fighting scene between Keanu and Lawrence Fishbourne. I'm totally jealous!

I've seen the Matrix once and sadly, I need to see a movie more than once to fully absorb it. Now that you've explained it, I do remember that part. Are you utterly ashamed of me? I'll see it again, I promise!!
