The Wal-Mart trip was not nearly as difficult as I expected it to be. I was very careful to make sure that the items I got matched the sale papers exactly. I also chose my cashier carefully. I wanted to try and get someone who knew what they were doing and would not be rude about doing all those price changes. Somehow, someway, I did pick the perfect cashier. She was polite and patient with all the price changes. I probably had about 20 items that were eligible for price matching. Of course, somethings were cheaper at Wal-Mart than the sale prices at the other stores. I really love shopping at Wal-Mart, even if it is further to drive and a lot more walking. Connor was pretty good. I gave him a Reeses Cup to eat while I checked out and that kept him quiet for the whole price change process. I'm such an evil mom, bribing my kids with candy. Sometimes, I just have to do what works!

I'm not sure exactly how much I saved, because there was no total at the end and the original wal-mart prices are not on the receipt. I'll share a few examples, though.

a gallon of milk: Wal-mart price was $2.33, sale price $1.77 (I got 2 gallons, for a savings of 1.12)
I saved .12 a can on Campbell's soup and got 10 cans. (savings of 1.20)
boneless, skinless chicken breasts: Wal-mart price was 3.24/lb, sale price 1.87/lb (savings: $4.52)
strawberries, I saved over $2.00

I feel proud of myself. I'd say it was certainly worth the hassle for the amount of money I saved. Also, the cashier did not double check every price. She saw that I had written down all the sale prices on my grocery list, so she took my word for most everything. I did have the sale papers there to refer to, if she wanted. I'm sure she wanted to get through with it as quickly as possible :)
