Let's see...yesterday involved Josh going to a birthday party while the rest of us went to the pug meet-up. It's been a few months since we've gone to one (soccer) and apparently Max is no longer the fun loving pup he once was. I caught him trying to mount a couple of female dogs. His favorite friend--one he's played with many times before--was in heat so her owner kept her on her leash the whole time. Maybe it's just me, but I think he has no business taking her into a group of dogs if she's in heat! Max would hardly leave her alone. We plan on getting him fixed but I just didn't realize it was time already. It is. It's time.

That evening we took the whole family to a playground. There were two teenage girls hanging out there, cussing at the little kids (not my kids, but other random kids.) I asked them to stop but they didn't hear me (or pretended not to?) I eventually took my kids home earlier than I intended to because she wouldn't stop dropping f-bombs. Why were they even hanging out at the playground? The sad thing is that the little kids were cussing back at them. None of the other moms seemed to care which made me feel even more awkward. I'm not a confrontational person so it was easier for me just to leave than deal with her face on. I know, I'm a wimp.

I leave for Washington in 13 days.

I don't let anyone swear around my kids without letting them know how I feel about it. The result is that, rather than feel like a wimp, I become "Woman Who Is Waaay Too Uptight"...

You did the right thing. Your kids got an object lesson at the playground from their mommy.

I'll channel my inner Kim next time I'm faced with a foul-mouthed teen :)

I've left a playground because of foul language at the playground before. Isn't that sad? And where are the parents? Kids don't drive themselves to a playground.

I can't believe you're leaving already! I am anxious to live through this vicariously through you!

Any updates on Chris's job interviews? How did NJ go?

We haven't heard back from NJ yet but enough time has passed that he's pretty much written it off. He had an interview today with a school in Wisconsin for a one semester position. We could stay put, work as waiters and earn as much as they were willing to pay :P

I can't believe it's almost time to leave either! Time flies...
