For the record, I am officially undecided in my feelings about snow. Part of me loves all this snow. Perhaps that is the kid in me? I love how beautiful and peaceful the city feels when the snow is falling, I love how clean and pristine everything looks after a fresh blanket of snow. I love that the kids will play and play outside, using up lots of energy! However, I do not like how dang long it takes to get said kids in and out of their snow gear. I do not like the wet puddles of melted snow all over the house. I do not like wet, cold socks from stepping in said puddles. I do not like how gross and black the snow on the roads gets. So, over all, I'm still undecided. We have been late for just about everything we've had to get to since this snow fell. Aside from taking twice as long to get bundled up and out the door, I'm also driving with extreme care. Cars often pass me :) I still have my Florida license plate, so I'm hoping that elicits some sympathy from any drivers who may be irritated by my slowness.

It is snowing again right now and they predict about 6 inches during the night. I wonder how much snow is enough to call a snow day from school? I know in Southern Alabama if it snows 1/8 of an inch school gets canceled :)

This tree is usually teeming with sparrows, but I don't know where they've all gone since the snow fell. I want to get a bird feeder for this tree, to keep the birds around during the winter.

Look how green my grass still is! I should have cut it one more time before it snowed, but alas I missed my chance.

This is a footprint from my boots. I waited too long to buy them and ended up driving to the mall after the first snow hit to get some. I like the ones I got, they are super cute...but it turns out that they aren't exactly the most practical. They do keep my feet dry, so that's good. I wish they were easier to get on and off, and kept my feet a bit warmer. Oh well. This is the first pair of boots I've owned in over 10 years!

Petey loves his snow gear. Today he wore his snow pants-overall-things to school. When I picked him up after school, I asked him if he had kept them on all day. He replied "Yes, except I had to take them off to use the bathroom. Do you think Mario (as in Super Mario Brothers) has to take his overalls off when he uses the bathroom, too?" I held in my giggles as I told him yes, I'm sure he did.

Just for fun, here is a pic of Josh at 1 1/2. I always stumble across this photo when I use photobucket and I thought some of my family members might get a kick out of it. He's so young here, such sweet chubby cheeks!

I had/have the same feelings about snow. In PA, i used to wake up real early in the morning after fresh snow had fallen because the street lights would be amplified by the snow crystals. it was such an amazing sight. but then by the time I woke up for work it would be slush and mud and black and I'd think...what happened to the winter wonderland?

And I was so cold. too poor to buy anything really good to keep me warm and dry - being dry is the biggest thing. I don't know we're going to do in St. Louis and Gatlinburg when we go away for Christmas - we're going to freeze! our little Florida selves are used to wearing sandles every day - I'm still in flip flops!

Petey is disappointed that a cat has already criss-crossed our yard with tracks. He wanted to be the first one to make tracks in the freshly fallen snow :)

Awww.

Oh! I was thinking about Petey today. There is this study being done at an elementary school somewhere in the states. The classes are all being taught yoga. Once a day the kids do some yoga poses, and they do even more in PE. Turns out their test scores are higher, the kids are less disruptive and more focused. In general the entire school's grades went up. I was thinking about Petey's energy - he might really like yoga because he can twist himself up like a pretzel. There are some kid yoga videos I've seen too. They look really fun. They practice meditation at the end as well, no mantra saying, just the art of relaxing the body. The scene on the tv showed all these kids laying under their desks and stuff. It was quite funny, but the kids looked like they were having a great time.

What a great idea! I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
