Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] asherific for my spiffy new icon.

Today is day one of the diet. So far so good. I walked for a half hour this morning, and I've eaten healthy all day. The real test will be tonight. School starts back today for everyone. I'm reading "Hard Times" by Studs Terkel for one of my classes. He compiled hundreds of oral histories on the Great Depression. It is pretty interesting. Reading about their hardships has really made me realize that no matter how broke I think I am, I will probably never have to face true poverty like they did. Sure, I may have to buy generic laundry soap, but at least I have clothes to wash, and a washing machine to wash them in. Life is good.

I was talking to this girl I know who recently lost 80 lbs and she says it requires active excercising every week, at least three times a week. I am trying to stick to this but my new day schedule interferes. You have the right idea to rid the house of junk food. Kids will eat anything if they are hungry enough. The hardest kick for me is soda.

Anything sweet. Anything at all sweet. It's like an addiction. I used to be addicted to soda until my doctor told me that I had to cut out all my caffiene (I've cut it all out except chocolate, I'm a bad girl) or else. It feels really good not to have it. Last week I drank 2 glasses of coke and the caffiene and sugar made me skyrocket into craziness. Never again. I was so hyper and didn't sleep at all that night.

I've got to start exercising now that I'm not "dying" anymore. Stupid asthma.
