Chris went to the eye doctor today. He just called to say that they think he might have a detached retina. So, of course I google "detached retina" and here is the first result:

"A retinal detachment occurs when the retina is pulled away from its normal position in the back of the eye. The retina sends visual images to the brain through the optic nerve. When detachment occurs, vision is blurred. A detached retina is a very serious problem that almost always causes blindness unless it is treated."

Why yes, I am completely freaking out. Thank you for asking.

His eye has been bothering him for a couple months. Initially he was seeing "floaters" in it but in just the past couple days he started really having problems. Yesterday he started wearing his glasses instead of his contacts, and that signifies that something is really bothering him. This morning, he said his vision looks as though he is looking through a drop of water.

We have no insurance. I'm tired of living the reality of the recession. The historian in me found it novel for a while, something I could tell my grandkids one day, but now I want it to be over. I want stability again. If he needs eye surgery, I just....what will we do?
