When good books go bad

Preservation is an issue that we discuss a lot in my classes. It's made me realize that my own books at home are not being taken care of very well. For example, I love to let the sun shine in, but it turns out the UV rays are very damaging for books. Luckily we've lived in pretty arid climates lately so I have no need to worry that something like this will happen to my books. (Warning--not for the squeamish book lover!)
