Apr. 26th, 2009 07:09 pmI played my flute in church today. It went rather well, I thought. I'd practiced the piece many times over the past several weeks because I didn't want to mess up in front of every one. It was an accompaniment to the choir, with the piano as well. It's nice to be able to still utilize that knowledge once in a while.
Our bishop spoke on the necessity of planting gardens in sacrament meeting. I appreciated his message, and I do believe in the importance of garden particularly in these tight economic times. However, we don't really have the option of a veggie garden this year as our backyard is all grass and I'm sure the homeowners would have a fit if we dug up any of their beautiful sod. I'm glad to report that we are going to have a church garden! Someone in the congregation is donating a large parcel of land. As a family, all we have to do is pay $10 towards the purchase of seeds and fertilizer and work once a week on maintaining our a row of the garden. I'm going to go ahead and participate even though we have no idea if we'll stay for the summer yet. If nothing else it will be good experience for the kids to work in a garden.
