I've recently learned that the home owner's association gives tickets to homes that have too many dandelions in their front yards.

Dandelions should be the Idaho state flower. They grow here in such proliferation, like no other place I've lived (and we all know I've lived a lot of places!) One day, no dandelions. The next day, more dandelions than grass.

I've just spent the last hour or so digging dandelions out of my front yard. Although it's monotonous I do find there is a certain satisfaction in getting all those boogers out of the yard.

I'm having a flashback to when I was a little girl (8 or 9) and I loved dandelions so much. I'd make dandelion chains, sitting in the warm grass patiently trying to piece them together. I distinctly remember my mom fussing at me for blowing dandelion seeds in the front yard. What she didn't know was that I went around the neighborhood picking seed heads then bring them back to our house to spread the love. I wanted a yard full of dandelions.

Now here I am: a grown up. I've become a dandelion killer.

In other news, I tasted some awesome oatmeal chocolate chip cookies today that used beans instead of butter. They were so yummy and I certainly could not tell the difference.

Here's the recipe )
