We had windstorm tonight! I'd heard that they sometimes had them here, but I was surprised when it actually happened. Even though we knew it was coming, it came on much quicker than I expected. The kids were out in the backyard playing in the sprinklers (we have an automatic sprinkler system in this house. Sweet!) and Chris just happened to look out the front window. He saw a wall of dust moving towards our neighborhood! We had enough time to get the kids in and pick up some loose items when suddenly with wind began whipping past the house. Our neighbor's empty inflatable pool was blown into our yard, and I noticed that their newly-planted tree got blown over. I saw a lot of people standing at their windows watching the wind, but one guy was actually standing in his back yard with his dogs, a beer in his hand, enjoying the wind, I guess.

Petey did freak out a bit, as I expected he would. I just tried to keep him distracted by talking to him about his day at school, or keeping the tv a bit too loud to block out the sound of the wind blowing by.

A nice side effect of the wind storm is that we had an amazing sunset. The whole sky was a brilliant pink. Another possible positive may be free peaches. A church lady mentioned that if there are wind storms, peach farmers give away the peaches that were blown off the trees. I wonder how I can find out about something like that? Hmmm.
