Imagine my surprise when I went to Wal-mart to buy dishwashing detergent and discovered that the whole shelf was empty. A single sheet of copy paper hung on the shelf, a sign explaining that phosphates are no longer allowed for use in detergents in Spokane county. The sign promised that Wal-Mart would soon be carrying phosphate-free detergent. Until then, I'll be hand washing my dishes.
I try to be ecologically-minded. I recycle, I usually bring my own bags when I go shopping, etc. Yet there is a tiny bit of me that is quite put out that I have to hand wash my dishes for the next few days.
Edit: I found some phosphate free detergent at Yokes. whew...crisis averted!
