Mar. 18th, 2008 10:42 amWhew, what a start to the day. The jeep has been picked up, via tow truck, from the airport and is now sitting at the mechanics. I left the house two hours ago and am finally home after taking the kids to school, Chris to work, driving to the airport to pay the parking fees for the jeep and getting things set up at the mechanics. I hate being a one car family. It really does complicate things quite a lot. Also, I dislike being new in town and not knowing who the trustworthy mechanics are. I asked the two people I know to see who they use and both of their husbands are do-it-yourselfers. Chris is handy, but how many people actually tackle a possibly blown head gasket on their own? Let's just hope I can trust the reviews I found online that the mechanic I picked will be good. If it means anything, I got a good vibe from them both on the phone and in person. Very polite, very clean facility, all the things a woman looks for in a mechanic :)
Chris is heart-broken that his Jeep betrayed him in such a way. A blown head gasket is a big, expensive ordeal. Last night, doomsday-Chris reared his head and he was convinced that the Jeep would never run the same again and that we should just trade it in as soon as it is fixed. I hate to see him give up on his favorite-car-ever so easily. He hoped it was only a cracked hose, and spent a couple hours laying in the airport parking lot last night replacing hoses. However, when he started her back up after he finished, the water was still pouring out. Very disheartening.
I think we are entering one of those life-is-so-overwhelming stretches. The job search, the broken car, the pneumonia...it all adds up to a heavy load. Very heavy.
