Jun. 7th, 2007 12:45 pmLast night, Kevin (Chris' youngest brother) had two friends spend the night. They all stayed plugged in for the majority of the night. Kevin plays Everquest 2, and I'm not sure what the other two guys game (drug?) of choice is, but they were all gaming all night long. I'm not going to indulge in any stereotyping here. That's not the point of this entry. I'm sure they're nice enough guys. I never had the chance to find out because they never turned away from the screen long enough to say "boo" to me.
This morning, they borrowed my van to go help their friend move. Zack has a stash of "treasures" that he keeps in one of the storage cubbies of the van. I told him that, if he was worried about it, he should tell Kevin to keep it safe. So, before they left, he started telling Kevin all about his treasures, and where they were, etc. Meanwhile, his two gaming friends are giggling, not very discretely mind you, at Zack talking to Kevin. Apparently they found it very amusing that Zack was so concerned about his collection of seashells and bottlecaps.
Not even 5 minutes later I hear them having an intense conversation about servers, and kidnapping to mexico, using all sorts of lingo I'm not familiar with. They were all so involved in this conversation revolving around a game plot.
Why is that ok to take a game so very seriously, but the treasures of an 8 year old boy are something they can scoff at?
Ok, I'm done venting my motherly rage. I hate it when people make fun of my kids.
