Oct. 12th, 2006 04:41 pmOur Internet has been disconnected! Ack! What shall I do without my lifeblood?! I'm at Mariannette's right now.
Chris and I went shopping this morning and I actually found a pair of jeans that fit. We went into this huge building that was choked full of tiny clothes shops. Our neighbors told us about it once they realized we'd bought the kids' clothes at a department store. Wow, this place was so much cheaper. We got clothes for the kids for like $4 a peice, sometimes even just over $1. I found some jeans! One the first floor, I started looking at jeans, thinking that there was no way I'd find a pair in my size. Well, the sales lady we met seemed to think differently and she pulled out a pair and handed it to me. I asked her if I could try it on, glancing around this closet sized store lined with jeans on every spare space of wall. There certainly wasn't a fitting room anywhere to be seen. She grabbed a grey peice of cloth, hooked it to one wall and then to the opposite wall. I stood behind it. It reached from the floor up to about my chest. So, while I'm changing into the jeans, I can see everone and everyone can see me. Several sales people are gathered to see if the jeans will fit or not. No, the first pair doesn't even go up over my hips. I hand the jeans I had on, the Old Navy's I brought from home out so they can get an idea of what I need. The jeans suddenly look enormous in comparison with the other jeans in the room. After three more tries, I find a pair that fits. Not only do they fit, but they are Levis (or look alikes) and they are not bedazzled or embroidered! Cool-ness. I also bought a long sleeve t-shirt that says something like "Rock Lives" with a skull on it, and a skull patch on the arm. I love it. It's a man's tshirt, but who cares. Finally, after almost 3 months of living here I've found some clothes that fit!
We leave for Beijing in a few hours. If I don't update for a few days, just think of me chasing the boys through Tianeman square or trying to restrain them from jumping off the Great Wall :)
btw, "Heroes" last night...Wow!
