Sep. 4th, 2006 10:46 pmYesterday Petey woke up with an insect bit on his tummy. It was a bright red spot bigger than a half dollar.
Later in the day, I cut open an apple to find it rotten and full of wiggle white worms.
When things like this happen, I think to myself "Ah well, that's just life in China." But it occurs to me that these things have nothing to do with life in China. They could just as easily happen back home in America. I tend to blame things on "China" too often.
The boys had their first TKD lesson tonight. I love it! It's a group full of wiggly, energetic boys (and 2 girls). The teacher has these black leather paddle type things that he claps together loudly to get the kids attention. I need a pair of those things. Every time he slapped them the kids perked right up and listened. Petey loved it. His attention started to wander at about an hour. The lessons last for about an hour and a half. Zack did not like it one bit. The teacher paid special attention to the boys. Because they couldn't understand what he was telling them, he would simply move their bodies into the positions needed. I suppose all that attention bothered Zack, I'm not sure exactly what the problem was. He was fighting back tears through the whole lesson. I'm just baffled as to why it was so upsetting to him. He said the stretches hurt him and his feet hurt and he was hot and thirsty. We don't plan on letting him quit though, at least not that quickly. He needs to give it a chance. When he did basketball he didn't like it initially either, but by the end of the season he loved it.
We have a lot of practice to do to catch up with the rest of the class. They've all been doing it for a while, so the boys are behind right now. We can catch up.
btw, the bite on Petey's belly is practically gone today. Thank heavens :)
