Jan. 26th, 2006 04:41 pmMy legs feel like jelly. Everytime I stand up, they feel wobbly. I'm a weeble wooble!
It is due to the walking and running I've started doing. This is only my second day of exercising, but given that I haven't pushed my body this hard in, oh...let's say two years, I'm already feeling the effects.
Last night I was getting ready to head out for my walk around 5:15 pm. First Petey wanted to come, and then Zack begged to come too. I knew I wouldn't get far with them along. They want to stop and smell (and dig up) the roses, while I had to do some speed walking. Chris decided to come along and we all crossed the street to the assisted living home. They have a nice walking track, but I don't often utilize it because it's too boring. Chris let the boys run around and throw rocks while I did laps. It made it less boring, knowing that I was going to see the kids every time I completed a cycle. I also ran some, and on my last lap the family walked with me. We all got a good work out. And what a difference it made!
Last night, for the first night in literally weeks (!!) I slept undisturbed through the whole night (imagine dramatic and gleeful music here). Connor did not wake up and climb in our bed. Zack did not wake up with nightmares. Petey did not wake up and ask me to turn on the music (the boys fall asleep to a acoustic guitar playing hymns cd every night. Usually Petey wakes up around 4 am and wants it turned on again.)I woke up at 6 am, bright eyed and bushy tailed. The kids woke up with no hassle; I didn't have to beg them out of bed. The took baths, ate breakfast -- all without a rush. We were on time leaving, everyone was on time for school. It was the perfect way to start the day and I'm sure it must have been everyone getting such a work out just a few hours before bedtime. We will be repeating this family walk/run, no doubt about it!
Today I had to go visiting teaching in the next apartment complex over, so I decided to do my 30 minutes of walking before hand and end up there when I was done. That part of the plan worked out wonderfully. However, as the visit was drawing to a close, I suddenly remembered that Petey was coming home early today! I said a hurried good-bye and flew out the door. I ran half the way home, which thankfully is mostly down hill. You all know I am not a runner. Shucks, I'm hardly a walker at this point in time. But there I was, running and jiggling and puffing along, trying to get home before the car pool arrived.
I made it by 2 minutes. And now you know why my legs feel like jelly.
