Chris is home
Jun. 28th, 2005 09:07 pmChris got home last night. I had a flat tire on the way to the airport. I was almost to the airport, so I just parked the car on the shoulder, got out the stroller and we walked the rest of the way (less than half a mile). It was a wonderful reunion. Connor was so shy at first but he's warmed up now.
I forgot how difficult it would be to get used to each other again. Last time he went to China he was gone for 4 months. It took us about that long to get used to each other when he got home. We were so used to our own schedules. I thought this time would be different, since he was only gone for 3 weeks. We are still facing challenges and the whole situation is compounded by the fact that we are at the in laws, and not in our own comfortable space.
To put it plainly, I feel weird. I'm so glad he's here. It is such a relief to have him here and to know I am not the sole one responsible for the kids. I feel a great burden lifted. On the other hand, he has been living as a bachelor for the past three weeks and he quickly got used to peace and quiet. The busy-ness and noise level of the kids seem to stress him out. I'm irritated that he's irritated. *sigh* This to shall pass.
