Connor is now saying "Mama". He mostly says it when he's looking for me, or when he has climbed too high and needs my help to get down. Just now, he was saying it to tell me he wanted an Oreo just like the big boys had. His voice is still so sweet, when he says "Mama" it sounds like an angel. I'll just enjoy it while it lasts!
Our last reading assignment for the semester is "Lakota Woman" by Mary Crow Dog. Our paper assignment is to compare her actions and philosophy with those of Martin Luther King. The book is about her life, growing up in the 1970's as a Native American on a South Dakota Reservation. I had always assumed the Civil Rights Movement only involved African Americans. It will be interesting to learn about the Native American perspective on the Movement.
