Birthday Party

Today, Zack and Pete went to a birthday party for one of their buddies. It was a beautiful day for a party, but a little too windy. The buddy's Mom had originally planned on renting a jumping castle but it turned out the park she wanted to have it at didn't allow them. Well, it turns out that elsewhere in town today, a jumping castle was picked up by the wind and dumped into a nearby lake! There were children in it, too. Thankfully, no one was hurt badly.

I got to talking to one of the other mom's at the party. She's new at our church, but I hadn't really had a chance to meet her yet. She has a son Zack's age, and they go to the same school. We had a lot in common. Her dad was stationed at Ft. Rucker as a helicopter pilot and he flew Hueys, just like my dad. Her husband just graduated with his masters and they are finally earning the big bucks after years of struggling. I told her about how long it was taking us to finish school. She kept reassuring me that it was worth it, there's a light at the end of the tunnel, you'll be so glad you did it. I tell myself all these things, and I hear them from my wonderful family, too. But, it was nice to meet someone who has just recently made it through. If they can do it, so can we!

Pete cuteness: Tonight he asked if he could have chocolate mustard on his ice cream (he meant chocolate syrup).
