Happy Easter
Mar. 27th, 2005 07:39 amThe boys had a busy day of egg hunting yesterday. In the morning, I took them to the town Easter egg hunt. It was pure madness. The Easter Bunny was flown in to the park on a helicopter and landed only several yards from where we were standing. That was really neat. The egg hunt was pandimonium. There were kids reaching into other kids baskets and stealing eggs, parents scooping up eggs left and right and even parents encouraging their kids to be aggressive. Zack got 5 eggs and Pete got 4 and that was a lot compared to most.
Next we went to the church easter egg hunt. They had rigged some elaborate plan in order to assure all kids got an even share off eggs. (Sidenote- The kids were now just playing loudly in the living room and all the sudden there was a crash. Next I heard Pete say "Uh-oh, Mom's gonna be mad. We better figure out a plan." It turns out they just knocked a picture off the wall. No harm done;) The ladies in charge numbered the eggs in sets of 10. Each child was to find an egg of each number and at the end each kid would have 10 eggs, each of one number. It didn't quite work out that way as some numbers were much harder to find than others, and the little kids whose parents weren't helping were grabbing every egg in sight. It was a good idea in theory though. Everyone ended up with about 10 eggs in the end. It was much better than the first egg hunt.
I love to use potluck events to try out new recipes. Yesterday for the Church Easter picnic, I made an Italian Pasta Salad. It was really good, and I'll definitly make it again. I can make it when I'm home this summer if anyone is interested.
Connor quickly figured out what to do with these colorful eggs everyone was chasing after. He'd pick one up and shake it. A perfect rattle toy! He also has been trying to hold his own when it comes to candy consumption. This morning I discovered he had popped a wrapped chocolate egg into his mouth. The chocolate was gone, but thankfully the wrapper was still there for me to remove.
(ps- I have eaten a little candy, but not nearly as much as usual. I'm still sticking to the diet and I feel so much better. Even getting up in the morning is easier. I couldn't resist a few Peeps, though.)
