As part of the condo-conversion business that's going on in my apartment complex, there is currently quite a lot of racket going on directly above me. The construction crew is up there completely gutting the place. Yesterday I heard a lot of scrapping noises, it sounded like they were removing the carpets. This morning they began at 7 am (!!!!) to remove the tiles around the chimney and front door. It is really quite loud when someone is removing tile.
I stopped by the rental office to get an estimate of how long I could expect this banging, scrapping and thumping to continue. The rest of the week. They said they were surprised they hadn't heard from me earlier, lol. I told them that Petey had yelled up the stairs to the construction guys "Hey, can you keep it down up there?" They said "good!" They also said they'd talk to the guys about not starting quite so early. Even if they started at 7:30 I'd be able to deal with it better. I'm still trying to wipe the sleep out of my eyes at 7.
I imagine they don't like this condo conversion anymore than we do. It means they will all lose their jobs eventually. As it is, they are running out of things to do. When I entered the office today, the whole staff was just sitting in there: both maintenance workers and the housekeeper. I've never seen that before because everyone is usually busy. It's a little sad, and a little funny.
