Nov. 12th, 2009 10:34 amSarah likes to keep Headline News on all the time while we are at work. I think this is partially because for so many years she has worked here alone, but also because she wants to know if anything significant is happening (like 9/11, for example). At first, this bothered me a lot because the tv is in my office, literally only a few steps away from my desk. I am not one who likes to have nonstop noise just for the sake of noise. I love silence (a good trait in a librarian?) Also, it is depressing to hear these news snippets over and over again all day long. Jon and Kate, Ft. Knox shooting, gang rapes, Rhiana and Chris. I know more about celebrities now than I ever have in my whole life!
But now I've found that I have grown to almost like it. When they start talking about Jon and Kate, I might stop what I'm doing to see what's up with them lately. I've never even watched a whole episode of Jon and Kate Plus Eight, but now I am suddenly interested?! I feel a need to know what's going on and I like being more in the loop when it comes to the news. I am just so thankful that she doesn't keep it on Fox like the media specialist does at the boys' school. That drives me nuts. (sorry dear Fox-loving friends, it just isn't my cup of tea.)
