I spent today with Zack's class on a loooong field trip to Baker City and the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. It was a two hour car trip (four round trip) so we didn't get back home until after 6. I'm exhausted but I really did have a nice time. My favorite part about the Center is that the hills surrounding it are undeveloped. One can really get an idea of what it must have looked like for the pioneers on the Oregon Trail. It gave me a lot to think about and a lot to be thankful for. Yes, I may have a long move ahead of me but at least I don't have to walk the whole way there.

I subscribe to a archives listserv. Every now and then there are some very interesting posts. I thought I'd share this link to a hair book.

I'm even more interested in this comment written in response by archivist from the University of Utah:

It reminded me that we have a similar book over in Manuscripts. It's been years since I looked at it but I remember it had hair clippings from all of the early Mormon leaders, from Brigham Young on down. They were done in a similar style, braided in various decorative ways.
