Chris said to me today: Don't you think writing on "War of the Worlds" is an easy way out on this essay? Don't you think your teacher will see it as too easy a text to analyze?"
Who cares!?! She assigned this book to us in the first place!
Sometimes being married to a professor can be frustrating! I don't want to be intellectually challenged. I want to be done with school! What would Chris think if he knew I that I briefly entertained the idea of paying some generic essays.com or whatever to just write the paper for me. Not that I ever would, but the thought crossed my mind.
Time to stop whining. I used to love literature so much. Now, I feel intimidated by it. There was a time in my life when my English professors tried to convince me to change my major (at that time biology) to Literature. That's how good my grasp on literature was. Where did that go? I wouldn't have thought English and History could be so different from each other. After all, history shapes the way in which literature is written. One must have a decent understanding of history to enjoy, for example, Les Miserables. I suppose it all comes down to analyzing. When researching history, one looks at events and actions, and tries to determine why things happened the way they did. In literature, it's all about the author's perspective. What was he/she trying to say to us that he didn't actually come out and say?
As much as I love to read, I realize that for the past several years I have just been reading surface deep. I need to dig deeper.
