Why can't I turn on the sprinkler without getting wet? Every time I try to set it up in my yard, I inevitably end up spraying myself. I've lost count of how many times I've ran down the sidewalk in attempts to get out of the way of the onslaught of water. It doesn't matter how hard I try to avoid it, I always get soaked. I get so wet I have to change my clothes. I'm determined to figure these sprinklers out, one way or another.

Yesterday the boys found a dead squirrel beside our house. It had no obvious signs of trauma; it looked like it had just laid down and died. In fact it looked so "ok" that I was worried it wasn't actually dead but just asleep. I nudged it with my toe, ready to run just incase it sprang to life. No, it was stiff. It is now wrapped up in a garbage bag and in the outside trashcan. I hope it doesn't start to smell before the trash collectors come.

Petey has a dentist appointment this week. I learned so much from our last dental experience. I am going to INSIST that he be fully sedated before they do any drilling. This time I made sure to find a reputable, pediatric dentist with lots of experience. Our appointment this week is just for a consult and cleaning, no root canals done yet. He still has one tooth that needs major work, but we'll see what the doc says about that.

Now, on to read about the Korean War. It's interesting to be taking a class about the Cold War because part of it took place during my life time. I remember when the Berlin Wall fell. What a huge moment that was! My grandpa fought in the Korean War, so that makes this weeks readings a bit more interesting (although the author of our textbook did his best to write as uninterestingly as possible!)
